More Legos

Remember how I used to hate legos? Well, I still do. I hate stepping on them.

But, I can see how they let the kids become engineers in their own way. Every other day, the kids are building cranes, boats, cars, etc... with these legos. Very cool!

A boat built by one of the twins.

Cards? Money?

The youngest son walked up to me with hands full of cards.

He asked me, "Jennifer, guess how much MONEY this is?"

I said, "50 thousand dollars!!"

He said, "It's GOT to be way more than that... there's a 9... and a Queen... A Queen has to be like 100 dollars!... Same with a King!"

:-)  Good imagination, kid. I wish it was way more than $50,000 also.

Art Overkill?

The way I see it... I've still got room for a lot more art!  :-)

Keep drawin' boys!

DG and Me

Anybody familiar with DG homework? It stands for Daily Geography. 16 geography questions every two weeks... So, I guess that's a geography question a day...? I don't know.  I helped the middle son with it this evening.

I get to learn things like Ukraine is bigger than Spain. Hawaii is to the West of United States. Oh wait. I knew that one.  :-)

When we finished all of the questions, he took out all of the papers from his backpack and gave them to me.

"What do I do with these?"... I asked.

He said, "You put them in the pile."  ... Umm... what pile? So I filter through them... They're papers from his classwork. I saw a drawing he did in class and I asked if I could take it to work to hang at my desk at work.

He said, "I'll draw a picture of you to take!" (Pretty sure he said "of you" ...not "for you"...)

So this is either me...  or for me...

Super sweet. I heart you too, kiddo...

Our "week with the boys"

I call this week our "week with the boys" because the weeks are very different from each other:

Week 1: No kids on Monday, boys on Wednesday, no boys on the weekend.
Week 2: Boys on Monday, boys on Wednesday, Boys on the weekend.
Week 1
Week 2
Week 1
.... etc...

So basically, Week 1 is "not our week with the boys". Week 2 is our "week with the boys".

It's a pretty nice setup. But after Week 1, you really start to miss the boys, "goodness, we haven't seen them in forever!"   :-)

This evening, I didn't feel like working out... So I told Phil, "Let's make this evening about the boys."

Such nice weather and the sun was still out - we went to the park to play. We had "the bigs" playing football and the twins on the playground. What's it going to be like when the twins are big enough to play football with "the bigs"??  That will be fun to see.

Then we came home, ate dinner, had ice cream (Note: Phil and I did not eat ice cream, for those of you keeping track of our race weight), and then Phil played Space Bingo with the boys while I worked. I'd call it a successful evening when one of the boys passed out on the couch. YES!  :-)

We had the backyard shoveled.

This was the local hangout.

Minecraft. With a horse in our house.

Goosebumps Movie

I'm not familiar with the Goosebumps series or stories... But this evening, the twins picked the movie Goosebumps featuring Jack Black (2015). So we all watched it together, eating all of the boys Valentine Candy from school.

Now, I'm not a fan of scary movies in general. This movie started out good but then it got scary. There was actually a point that I asked the kids if it really was a kids' movie. Yes, it's rated PG! Crazy!

But now I find myself looking into the Goodbumps series... Are they other movies? Are they books? Would they be fun to read for adults, or are they just for kids??    :-)  Ok, that's all.

Feliz dia de San Valentin

I am quite surprised that the first Valentine's Day "card" that was brought home, colored by one of the twins, was in Spanish! Very cool!

Remember when the boys made the Valentine's
Boxes?  ^^  That's the boys making boxes.

Bad Words Begin

So this morning, while getting the twins ready for school... They had cereal, as normal... They got dressed, as normal...  and then one of the twins disappeared for a while.

He came back about 2 or 3 minutes later and said:

"Thank God I found this stuff."  Holding his library book and his homework folder. He continued with, "I would have been screwed."

In shock, I asked "what did you just say?"

And he smiled and walked away.

I'm pretty sure that's a bad word. I asked my co-worker and she said it's a bad word for a 7-year old... We figure he learned it at school. Yes, that's it... Learned it at school.

NOTE:  I didn't do this. I didn't even think about it until now. :-)

Valentine's Day Boxes!!

Oh, the boys did not like this at all...

"Can't we just go BUY boxes??"

"No, we have to make them."  (Let the evil stepmother begin...)

So, they knew what to do. I was impressed!

Pick a box and cut holes on the top.
And then wrap it to what you want, put hearts on it... Lots of tape was used, lots of construction paper, Star Wars wrapping paper...  They turned out great!

After not wanting to make them, the boys did a great job after all!
