No more soccer in the hallway!
Yesterday evening, Phil and I took some time to hang wedding picture frames through the hallway. We even put some in the living room also. (bye bye bachelor pad...)
The FIRST THING the boys said today after walking in and noticing these beautiful photos... was NOT, "oh hey, it looks nice!"
No... it was, "HEY, We can't play soccer in the hallway anymore!"

Tri 2 Beat MS
That was so much fun! The boys had a blast also.
So as far as "race reports" go... Here's one for the boys:
They put all of the kids into different waves prior to the swim start. I'm not sure how many race waves there were... 26? 27? Each wave had about five kids, maybe less. Some kids had floatation devices, others did not.
The race started right at 9am with Wave 1 and the kids were off!
They swam down the pool (just one length) and got out at the other end of the pool. Once out of the pool, they turned left towards transition for their bikes. Some kids walked, some kids ran. They hustled into transition for their shoes, helmets, and bikes... and onto the road!!
By the time I got over the to transition area after volunteering during the swim, I saw my middle stepson run out of transition throwing his t-shirt on. He was moving!
Then, out of nowhere, we saw my youngest stepson hauling ASS on his bike back to transition. Just absolutely killing it! He ran into transition, had his helmet taken off, and ran out of transition before I knew it.
Shortly after him and his twin ran by, we moved over to the finish line. It wasn't too long and the twins had finished the half mile run SPRINTING.
Oh, and before I forget... I did hear that the oldest stepson doing the event today threw up at the finish line. I told him, "Great job! That means you went ALL OUT!" Oh... they make me a proud step-mama...
I hope this race report gives you a visual of the twins and my middle stepsons first ever triathlon. All four boys finished and had a great time!

Without a Paddle
The boys came over this evening and instantly made themselves at home. Of course, I made the oldest mow the yard... because I was just too tired from mountain biking all afternoon.
So, I showered and got ready for the evening and came out to the boys watching a movie. I asked what they were watching and they said, "Without a Paddle." OK, I've heard of it... And they said, "we've seen it before." Alright, sounds good then.
The movie was JUST about over when one of the actors said "Shit" and then "Ass-face."
And it was RIGHT after "ASS-FACE" that the youngest stepson said, "OH, yep, I've seen this movie before!"
So of course, I looked at him and asked, "Was it the word "ass-face" that gave it away??"
And he laughed and said, "NNOOO".... rriiighttt....

Afternoon at the Pool
I don't think these boys know how much I love going to the pool, or the lake, or just being outside.
So today I surprised them by taking them to the pool!
Then... I got a couple other surprises...
The twins. Minus life vests.
I was watching them jump off the diving board when the youngest jumped in and started swimming to the wrong side of the pool for the ladder. The lifeguard whistled at him and pointed to go to the other ladder. So he turned around... but I think it was too much swimming because he stopped. He was tired. He couldn't make it.
So the lifeguard blew the whistle twice and she jumped in after him. She took him to the side of the pool. Luckily, I was right there and I went over to him and asked if he was OK. He shook his head... He was OK.
We went straight over to the lifeguard desk at the front and got a life vest for him.
As soon as we got the life vest on and I let him run free to the diving board again, I saw his twin brother get pulled out of the pool by a different lifeguard! What is going on today?!?!
So, I walked straight back to the lifeguard desk and asked for another life vest same size as the previous.
The boys had so much fun, they were tired before it was even time to leave. :-)
Mission accomplished.
