Please be Mud

"Please be mud... Please be mud..."

Was all I could think when I saw the brown stuff at the bottom of the washing machine.

It was NOT mud.

There's really not much to say about this.  :-/

Dunkin Donuts this morning

In continuation with yesterday's conversation in the car... With the TWINS...

I took them to Dunkin' Donuts this morning for "first day of summer break" donuts...

And they see this:

A beer mug Father's Day cake.

And they say, "Let's get that alcohol cake for dad!"

Oh boy... I promise... their dad is NOT an alcoholic.  :-)  lol...

Baseball, Beer, and B**bs

Today was a beautiful, warm, spring day. Blue skies, the sun was shining, and I think it was a high of around 85 degrees.

We all made the trip to the middle stepsons baseball game this evening. We just sat and enjoyed... the boys played catch a bit... I almost fell asleep there at the end... BUT, that's not the point.

On the way home, one of the boys asked about the Henry's Hard Soda billboard sign that he saw, and I mentioned that when it says "hard" on the label, that means it has alcohol in it. "It does?? Oh gross!"

But that began a conversation pattern between the twins... "beer this" ... "beer that" ...

And then some topic sparked up between The Bigs about mascara and using melons for b**bs.

I seriously had to STOP all conversation in the car and ask:

"WHY are the twins talking about BEER and The Bigs talking about B**BS???"  (Oh yes, I said the word.)  And the car just up-roared with laughter!!

I continued with, "this is just going to be life with boys, isn't it??"

And they continued to laugh...

You get this image, because I'm not posting b**bs!!

Chargers Galore!

I'm tired of my charger being used. I'm tired of the boys whining that they don't have a charger.

So, it is time.

Time for assigned chargers.

Rules:

1. Do not use electronic while it is charging... It will charge faster.
2. No electronics in the bedroom anymore. (These chargers are not placed in bedrooms and cannot be moved.)

PERIOD.

Our Week is Over!

Our 10-day stretch with the boys is officially over.  What a week it turned out to be!

Honestly, I thought I would turn out to be very exhausted at the end of the stretch with the boys. Instead, I ended up relaxed, rested, and enjoyed every minute of it.

Does that mean something is wrong with me? I think that means something is just not "right" with me.  I wasn't completely exhausted after 10-days straight of living "full time" with five boys.

Yes. I'm not normal. I will finally admit it.

And for the record, Phil passed out yesterday (Sunday) on the couch for at least an hour.  :-)  lol...

The, not normal, me.  :-)

I have toothpaste... where??

This morning, I was doing my hair... getting ready for the day.

I set my brush down by the sink (as usual) and then started brushing my hair again without thinking.

When I set the brush down again, I saw it. The back of the brush. The black of the plastic brush looked like it had melted. Of course, I touched it, trying to figure it out.

Toothpaste. It was TOOTHPASTE.

Crap. Where did this come from??

I look at the sink and there's blue stuff next to it. Shit. I laid my brush down in TOOTHPASTE.

Throughout the day today... I found toothpaste ALL.OVER.MY.HEAD.

Gross. Toothpaste. In my hair.

Thunder Rolls

Phil and I are enjoying listening to the thunder roll outside. But, the youngest is NOT enjoying it. The thunder scares him. For some reason, every time it thunders or storms, he gets scared. (he thinks about tornadoes)

So tonight, I went into their room and talked to him about it. I told him there was no reason to be scared and told him that his brother will take care of him.  He said, "twins are supposed to take care of each other."

Then I told him what my dad used to tell me when I had bad dreams. "Think about the beach." We are going to Myrtle Beach at the end of July, so I told him to think about that.

Over the Hump!

We made it over the hump! ... Of our 10-day stretch with the boys.  :-)  haha...

It's had ups and it's had downs. We had to lecture one of the boys about studying, tests, and homework. We had a great time out at the lake. I had to swear off ice cream and brownies. Hopefully we'll be seeing Captain America this weekend.

Maybe I can do this after all.  So, I'll leave you with some positive comments from this week so far:

From the oldest, "My teachers assistant said I'm doing 500% better on this assignment than before!"   (thank goodness)

From the second, .... Wait, I don't have any comments from the second... but he did mow/flatten the yard at the lake house.

From the middle, "YAY! Jennifer's home!"  (and I get a hug after school everyday)

From Twin 1, "Jennifer, I want to be like you and do triathlons."  (YES! My work here is DONE!)

From Twin 2, ... nothin' ... but he does like to sit on my lap when we're just hanging out.

I'm still learning...

I'm a huge Marvel movie fan... Even more so, a huge Captain America fan... So of course, I'm DYING to see the new Captain America movie, Civil War.

So while Phil was mowing, I asked the boys before dinner if they wanted to see the movie and they all exclaimed, "Yes! I want to see that so bad!" So I told them, "I want to see it also! Let's go on Saturday after baseball practice."

So then I told Phil, "Hey, I told the boys that we could go see the Captain America movie this weekend... Maybe Saturday..."

He said, "I suggest you caveat that with things like 'if you're good' or 'if you clean your room' or 'if you listen.'"

Dangit! I didn't even think about that!

I'll get there guys... One day, I'll get this parenting stuff down...

Fishing on Sunday

I went through some pictures from Sunday and some of them are really cute. Of course, most of them, I can't post on here.  :-)

But this one was too cute to pass up...

just sittin and waitin and hopin and prayin...

He waited all morning for a fish... And then, just before we left for lunch, he caught one! YAY!!

I looked for some cute or funny fishing quotes and I found a couple good ones:

"Parents don't frame pictures of their kids playing video games... Take them fishing!"

"Sometimes when the water is quiet... You can almost hear the fish laughing at you."

I am Blessed

Well, so far... the first weekend of our 10-day stretch went really well. We went out to Oak Run during the last 24-hours with the boys and Phil's parents. It rained last night and this morning, but it turned into the most beautiful day today!

I got to sleep in. I ate whatever I felt like eating. I watched the boys fish, catch fish, and kayak. I got to take a nap and then I went for a run along the lake. I got to see friends.  It was perfect.

My boys

So today I realized just how truly blessed I am.  My heart is full.

The Next 10-Days

"I can do this..." I think to myself this morning over some Dunkin Donuts coffee.

I look at my calendar and see baseball, soccer, running, a board meeting, field trips, just scattered all over my calendar during the next 10-days.

See... The boys' mother goes out of town tomorrow for a week long cruise... (She better relax, enjoy, have fun, and have some drinks for me!!)

Ok... moving on... I think we're just going to have to take this one day at a time. It's going to be hard and I know on Friday the 13th, I'm going to be run ragged... but, we can do it. Do I sound scared about this week?  :-)   I'm a little nervous, not gonna lie.

So, bring on the next 10-days!! And if I look like this at the end of next week... you know why!   :-)

Homework Nazi

I'm pretty certain I've become the homework nazi in our house.

"I don't have any homework."

"Well, let me check the school website."

...Or, maybe I have trust issues.  :-)

One of them does have a social studies test tomorrow and apparently didn't know about it... So he studied and he did well.

The twins... I went through the youngest papers in the folder and found these documents:

That one says, "I show fairness when I play with my twin."  :-)

This one says, "I am caring for my twin."  :-)

The last one says, "I have loyalty my twin."

I wonder if his twin brother knows how much he cares for him and how much he thinks about him... So much so, he does his class work about him!   :-)

It's super cute.
